Kendal Castle Now in ruins, Kendal Castle is thought to have been built during the 1100s. It was owned at one time by the Parr family, of which Catherine Parr was a member (the only wife of King Henry to outlive him). Historians estimate that the castle was already in decay in the late 1500s. Despite its state, the site is interesting to observe and a grand view of the area can be had from its hilltop location.
